Anything watermelon screams summer to me. A watermelon ‘keg’ or drink dispenser is the ultimate shout out to summer. I love this idea from She Knows and I’m so excited to feature it here today. I’m even more excited to try it at my next paty!
You will need a watermelon, some ice, a beer tap, and your favorite drink (alcoholic or not). I love this idea and I can’t believe how easy it is! Chop the top off your melon, core it (definitely saving the fruit for something like DIY gummies), drill a hole, insert your tap, add some ice, and lastly your tasty drink Yum!
Do you remember ‘Jungle juice?’ It was a staple at get togethers back in my younger days. It usually doesn’t make an appearance now that I’m older and smarter. Campus Squeeze has 7 crazy and delicious recipes that needed to be cautiously sipped. Find all 7 recipes here…They’d go great in your new watermelon keg!
Mojito, pina colada, mint julep, pims, daiquiri, anything with lemonade, and margaritas. Those all are summer drinks to me. Sweet sweet summer. It’s supposed to be 84 today and it’s not even June. I guess that means it’s going to be a hot one. That also means it will be full of summer fun, barbeques with friends, hot summer nights, and cool refreshing drinks. Do you have a favorite? My first would be mojitos and my second would be margaritas and not just any old margaritas. All kinds! I’m glad I found this delicious roundup at Diply. I’m so excited to feature them here today. Even more than that, I’m excited to try them!
The pink lemonade margarita is calling my name! The blackberry lime looks like another winner. They all look good. Except for the pomegranate…sadly, I’m allergic. I’m a big fan of the coronita, otherwise known as redneck margarita. Yum! Have fun this summer! Now that you have your beverages taken care of you need to get your chips and dip in order. Guacamole anyone? Greatist has a bunch of yummy recipes you need to check out!
Yum! I can feel my resolve weakening. I could drink a whole gallon of this delicious homemade hot cocoa. After seeing how it’s made, you will too! Stay warm this winter with a cup of DIY hot chocolate.
I wish I’d thought to try something like this ages ago. In the past I’ve used water, milk, and cocoa powder. I think I’ll try this method soon because anything that calls for heavy cream and chocolate is going to be amazing! I bet it tastes better than watered down powdered chocolate too. It would be fun (and easy) to turn into a *grownup* drink. Lol.
There are two times when drinking hot cocoa is a must. The first is on a blustery day spent snuggled up on the couch in front of the fire. The other is camping. This is non negotiable. There are many recipes that have you making the mix in advance but that’s no fun! Making the cocoa in a saucepan and serving hot and fresh is the only way to go. Love The Outdoors has that recipe. Hooray! They have that and lots of other yummy campfire recipes you need to check out.
‘Shots shots shots!” It’s more than a song. Shots are a delicious mini drink. I want to make these yummy marshmallow shot glasses for my next party. They look so fun! I’ve toasted marshmallows over the stove before and this is just a couple of extra steps to party heaven.
It might take a time or two to master these but that’s half the fun. I can always eat all of my mistakes (hehe). Be warned, once you do get them made they won’t hold liquid long. Drink and enjoy ASAP! Marshmallows are fluffy white clouds of sugar when you first buy them. They turn into concrete if left for too long. (They are the best amo for slingshot wars, lol!) I won’t be letting anymore of mine turn into solid rocks and be wasted ever again. Not with this recipe!
Here’s another new type of DIY shot glass…cucumber! How fun! Check it out at Instructables.
Pictured above is a recipe called Herb Citrus Cordial by I Love Wildfox. I think my heart skipped a beat. Maybe two. This dreamy recipe just screams hot summer days and cool summer nights. Sweet bliss. Lavender is one of my garden favorites. It’s easy to grow, looks beautiful, and smells heavenly. Why wouldn’t it be amazing in a drink? No reason! Lavender lemonade sounds like the best things since sweet tea! Sliced bread? iPhones?
Lavender, sugar, lemon, water (cold and hot), and ice are all you need to make this refreshing treat. The tutorial shows how to make an easy lavender infusion. This might make me less of a DIYer but I’d want to use purple culinary lavender and not homemade. I saw a drink made with it once and it was the most amazing shade of indigo. I want to duplicate that! If I can do with lavender from my garden I will.
Whether it is a lemonade or a lemon drop… here are some tips from Mixology on using lavender in drinks.
Um… If this isn’t the most perfect and refreshing summer drink I don’t know what is. This is for sure on the menu at my next party! How could it not be?! Prudent Babyy – I am super impressed! I love watermelon and now I have even more uses for it.
Collecting wine bottles for this DIY is another great excuse for drinking wine. (As if I need an excuse. Lol.) Scissors And Steam, thanks for the great tutorial! Step-by-step photos are where it’s at. This is super tricky and a little on the dangerous side but I think my skill level might be there. I know my drinking level is!
Sweet tea is the perfect summer drink for a ‘barefoot blue jeans night.’ It is crisp and refreshing and oh so delicious! Sun tea brews slowly in cold water and ends up having less caffeine than regular tea and isn’t as bitter. Brewing it in mason jars is a stroke of genius! When the tea is ready just add some fruit, chill, and serve. You could be drinking this sweet summer treat in as little as one hour!
Check out this cooler/table! Isn’t it great?! I found it over at Lifehacker and I am so excited to feature it. Summer time + no TV + friends + food + cold drinks within arms reach = backyard bliss. I am in love with this ideas and need to find out how I can get one of these for myself.
