Are you a fan of natural home remedies? If you answered yes, then you need to check this out! It turns out that onions have more uses than just flavoring food. They are good for curing many ails. People swear by their abilities to help with fevers, sore throats, infections, and the cold/flu bug. Crazy. With no harsh chemicals, this remedy has been proven to work and is more than just an old wives tale. The only down side that I can see would be a smelly mattress! Be sure to clean it.

Epsom salt is pure magic! Yes, magic! Anything that is so affordable and has so many practical uses gets filed under the ‘mystical and wonderful’ tab in my book. I always have Epsom salt in the bathroom. There is nothing more relaxing than taking a long soak with it in the water after a miserable day. These salts are proven to reduce stress! I didn’t know this before today but it’s technical name is magnesium sulfate. No wonder it’s so good for us! Magnesium does wondrous things to the body. Epsom is terrific! Not only can it help with our stress but it’s perfect for fixing our complexion, hair, and feet. Take it out of the bathroom and use use it to clean and in the garden. OMG! I am learning a lot and can’t wait to try these!

We are in the middle of cold and flu season…again! I heard some crazy statistic like only 20% of the flu shots given this year worked and got the right strain of the nasty virus. Sad! That means that a lot of other people were spending a lot of money buying cold medicine by the gallons. There is nothing worse than being sick. Being able to save some make and make your own remedies might help alleviate the pain some.
Have you seen that commercial where a guy and gal are asking for a sick day? It turns out that they are a mom and dad, talking to their itty bitties. It’s funny because we all know life doesn’t stop just because we are sick. I am always on the lookout for DIY remedies or natural cures to speed along my recovery and these cough sweets look like just the thing. They are wonderful for soothing a sore throat or fighting off a cold. Looks like they taste better than those artificial cherry ones. I like the idea of adding them to water and having an instant tea too.
I wonder if you could use molasses instead of sugar. It would give an extra nice ‘throat coat.’ I didn’t know that ginger and cloves were so good for you! Ginger helps with nausea, boosts the immune system, and is an antiinflammatory. Cloves reduce flem, have antiseptic properties, and have antioxidants. Good to know! Be sure to have some on hand before you are sick. From personal experience, the brain doesn’t work well when sick. No more missing work and school because of a cold or flu this year!

I shudder to even admit this, putting the words on a page is even more damning, but I had red velvet cake for breakfast. It is not nutritious or on any healthy diet plan that I know of. If only! I’m still looking for the cookie-cake-no workout diet. David Kirsch has a 28 day nutritional plan that will help jump start weight loss and instill healthy habits.
A plan like this wont work if you starve yourself. It’s important to keep your metabolism up by eating healthy snacks and meals every few hours. Working out is going to drastically increase results too. I know! We are going to have to work but it will be worth it.

Moms and Dads-pay attention! Really everyone should pay attentions.You are going to glad of this information at some point in your life. Winter is the time of snotty noses, colds, flu, and ear aches. If not for your kiddos then for you. I’m a fan of natural remedies. I’m not anti-doctor by any means but I do like to try and fix minor problems myself. My Grandmother had so many home remedies that seemed like miracle cures and I think I remember one like this.
This sock isn’t really “magic” but sea salt has quite a few healing properties. That and the heat combo can help relieve pain. And anything that does that and help speed up recovery is ok by me. I have a big ol’ Costco container of olive oil and it goes in almost everything I make. I just love to cook with it, even though I’m not Italian. It is healthier than a lot of the other alternatives out there. Another great thing about olive oil is how many other uses it has.
