I can honestly say that I’ve never used a cherry pitter. I spit the pits out when snacking or make a sticky pink mess when baking. An easier way sure would be nice… What?! There is one! Score! Check out this video from Handimania. In just 42 seconds he shows us how to pit cherries. No muss, no fuss.
You need cherries (obviously), an empty bottle, and some chopsticks. Step one: remove stem. Step two: balance on top of bottle. Step three: use narrow end of chopstick to push out pit. (this reminds me of coring strawberries with a straw.) How easy! I can’t wait to try it out.
Are you in the market for a cherry picker? Maybe you need 2k cherries pitted quickly and this DIY will work for pies and snacking but not extreme projects. Pickyourown.org has some reviews that might help make your decision easier. Good luck!
