how to make rock candy diy favors

I nearly jumped out of my chair when I saw this little “how to” project! These look like they would be so fun to make and watch them grow over time. Even better than watching an avocado or potato sprout roots and leaves because you get to eat candy when it’s done LOL.

The other great thing about this is the kids can learn a little bit of real life chemistry application. If it doesn’t turn out quite like the pictures above… there’s a reason. Can’t wait to start this up myself with my boys.

  1. i actually have a question.

How do you make flavors? like Vanilla, cotton candy, strawberry, etc. my daughters birthday party is coming up in MAY and i wanted to make some as part of a goody bag. Please could you help me out?

    Thank you,

  2. I would just use flavoring from the baking section of a market–just remember to dilute them so they’re not too strong.

  3. You could also try Michaels craft stores, in their candy/wedding section, flavors there too. Usually for mints, but they work as well.. Good luck, and happy birthday lucky kid!!!

  4. I know this if off topic but I’m looking into starting my own blog and
was curious what all is required to get set up? I’m assuming
having a blog like yours would cost a pretty penny?

I’m not very web smart so I’m not 100% positive. Any suggestions or advice would be greatly appreciated.
