diy natural swimming pool

This is one of those things on my bucket list that I absolutely want to make happen whenever we have a property with enough room for it. I grew up having a traditional in-ground pool in our backyard and we loved it. But I will take swimming in a natural body of water any day over what we had.

This is the best of both worlds! I have compiled a couple ideas here on this page I hope you’ll enjoy and these photos/video get your wheels turning.

  1. I really would have love to the video to show how to make this pool, or step by step pictures.

  2. How gorgeous! I have the perfect place on my farm to do this!! I actually have natural waterfalls at the creek…

  3. I LOVE this idea, however I am worried about this being the perfect invitation for water snakes and Mosquitos… Any thoughts on how to avoid??? Otherwise, I love, love, love this!!!!!!

  4. Mosquitoes will not be attracted, because of the constantly running filter. There are also all natural buckwheat disks that you can throw in once in a while in case it does become a problem. The water snakes will find their way in. My big worry is snapping turtles; we live in a swampy area and they are constantly around. Anyone have any ideas how to keep them at bay?

  5. Love this pool/pond for our country setting, coming soon.
We live in Southwestern, Ontario, Canada, so winters are part of the planning.
My question would be what is the winter maintanance be?

  6. We live north of Spokane WA so we get a ton
Of snow every winter. We have tried to carry our swimming pond over the winter, we have never been successful. We have tried heaters for the fish and we still lose them.
We now just allow to freeze solid every year and do a clean out every spring of the winter debris and enjoy it from April/may thru the end of October

  7. Hi we are trying to put in a swimminmg pond near Omak Wa, so not very far from Spokane , have you built it yourself or did you hire somebody??? I have wanted one for a long time , but not sure if it is a realistic Idea out herre. any tips???

  8. This natural pool looks wonderful but don’t the wooden posts under water rot? Thank you, Ayron

  9. I had a friend that put one in and then ended up taking it out because they couldn’t stand all the mosquitoes and snakes that started living in an around the water. The kids were getting eatin alive by mosq and they didn’t enjoy when they jump in swimming w the snakes but hey it looks pretty.

  10. Good post. I learn something totally new and challenging on websites I stumbleupon every day.
It will always be interesting to read articles from other writers and
