I recently discovered that the above pictured chandelier is actually a work of art done by the artists Thyra Hilden and Pio Diaz. I absolutely love the shadowy effect it casts on the walls.

The next best thing for us DIYists is to create something similar and hope that it casts a similar shadow and we can get the same effect for much less money! While doing my research I discovered this really great tutorial over at funky junk interiors that will hopefully create a similar shadow and it can easily be created by us “non-artist” types.

NOTE: You’ll probably need to modify the branch and twig placement into more of a ball shape to closely mimic our inspiration piece. Let me know how yours turns out if you attempt this!

Here’s the link to the tutorial…

  1. The picture with the forest shadow effect is caused by a lampshade! The link is for a hideous-looking chandelier! That chandelier, whilst looking like junk, won’t cause the desired forest shadow.

  2. Such an amazing idea, and the link is great–not “hideous” at all but very beautiful!

  3. Aesthetic judgements aside. The link does not generate the unique wall effect shown above
