Just to clarify…we are talking about quilling NOT quilting. It’s amazing what one letter can do. What is quilling? I’m so glad you asked! (I had to look it up too.) It is the rolling of paper strips (sometimes ribbon) into coils, scrolls, and hoops and arranging them to make beautiful works of art. I have seen some fabulous quilled creations. There was a koi fish, a violin, a Darth Vader mask, and an amazing tropical parrot just to name a few.
If you have the time, you can make some amazing things and decorate your house like a Boss! It doesn’t take a lot to get started either. The most common tools of the trade are tweezers, toothpicks, straight pins, a ruler, some glue, and a slotted curling tool (which you can also make yourself).
The Marquise/Eye shape is one of the very basic designs in quilling. Beginners need to get a handle on this sooner rather than later. It’s going to play a big part in their ‘quilling career.’ Start here and today its a little eye and tomorrow its a 3D wall covered in quilled flowers.
