I love eating out. The food just seems to taste so much better. Probably because it’s full of delicious butter and cream or fried to perfection. Yum! Outback Steakhouse has one of favorite but unhealthy appetizers, the bloomin onion. There are ways to DIY at home that are healthier but they still involve batter and frying. Here is alternative, more healthy way to make one. It’s baked and not fried.
This recipe calls for an onion, olive oil, balsamic vinegar, and optional salt and pepper. I have all of those things already! The tutorial shows how to peel and cut the onion so that when it bakes (25-35 minutes at 425 degrees) you will have a lovely, edible onion flower.
An onion flower would be an attractive and healthy appetizer to serve at your next party. As would these ones from All You. So Good! Check out the Vidalia Onion Tarts.
Here’s the ‘how-to’ video… Enjoy!
